...to see more detail. How does it look? Does the soundtrack fit? Other than Eastwood, how was it acted? I don't mean to be out of line with the other raters but I'd like to know more.

No matter how many times I see it ... and not matter how far into the movie it is when I happen across it while channel surfing ... I always end up watching it again!!!

Enjoyed the review too! :-)

Hi my Buddy! The opening is a pretty big jar, that’s for sure, and it was a big slap in ole Duke Wayne’s face, though not intentional, I’m sure. I know that the sound is used a lot like Leone did with the creaks of the shutters, hoof beats, etc., forming a rhythm to create a mood. The bullwhip cracking sure put me on edge!

I like the way he skewered the preacher where he says “Brother…” and Clint says, “I’m not your brother.” The preacher says “We are all children of Ga-w-w-wd.” Eastwood says “are these people [he ejected from the hotel] your brothers?” When the preacher cannot but say “yes” Eastwood tells him to take them home and put them up. The preacher says he will put them up and not charge more than the normal hotel rates. He also (verbally) skewered the two lead females with aplomb.

Just before he shot the dummies, a guy was standing behind him half drawing his knife like he was going to stab Clint in the back. Without turning Clint said “You’re going to look awful funny with the knife sticking in your a$$.”

I’ll have to watch “Unforgiven” again. This one I didn’t realize was so dear to your heart. It was the first western Clint directed and only the second movie. I was just going through a box of my old VHS tapes and realized I had a bunch that were damn good that I hadn‘t watched in several years. I would sure love to read your take on this one. You’ve got a lot of good impressions, thanks, bud!
