I saw this movie when it first came out...big screen...big sound. You could feel yourself cringe within the few opening frames...girl in water..legs dangling...Jaws had your eyes glued to the screen right from the start.
The town of Amity was in the mist of their busy summer season and the last thing any of the town officials wanted to hear was the word shark. But shark it was...a great white..which seemed to be big enough to devour an elephant. The town sheriff, who seems a little overly panic stricken at first, is not believed by others...until finally nobody can deny this town had a problem.
From beginning to end, you find yourself jumping out of your skin as the task of finding and killing this shark enfolds. What makes this horror/suspense movie so fantastic is that it is believable. Something you can imagine really happening. I have seen this movie at least a dozen times after the first and it still manages to make my spine tingle. After seeing it once, I never again went to a beach without thinking of what may be lurking beneath the waves.
