I'm always impressed with the intelligence and thoroughness of your reviews, yet here again you bring up a point that has nothing to do with the movie's greatness or lack of it. All the German's speak English? Okay, it would've been better all in German with subtitles?! you didn't catch that subtle part where Max is speaking German & the camera takes you slowly out of the translator's booth to the switch over to English? I love opera & don't mind subtitles at all, but to hear all of Max's speeches in the German w/subtitles would've sucked, quite frankly. The movie raises so many important points. Even if it takes a while to get there- the study of the different people is well worth the time. Especially compared with some of today's fodder at the movies. Brian! you'd be perfect if it weren't for these tendencies of yours to focus on the unimportant! I was just shocked to see the first, "I don't recommend it" review coming from you again. I know, you think I'm whacked... but I just can allow myself to enjoy a movie without picking it to death. Try it sometime... :)
