Thanks Stephen,

I clarified the sentence by taking out the reference to Brutus' speech which preceded Antony's funeral oration. It was Antony who inflamed the crowd and caused the conspirators to flee. Thanks for reading! Happy new year!

George, I disagree with your high praise, which aside from some strong performances, seems to me starved in the production values and imagination department.

You write a good argument, however.

"Brutus' speech justifying their actions has the effect of inflaming the crowd and causing the conspirators"

Brutus is one of the conspirators; don't you mean the loyalists (to Julius Caesar)?

And don't you mean "the greatest film of a Shakespeare play" rather than "the greatest Shakespeare play..."?

These are the kind of thing I'd point out in e-mail rather than leave a comment if I knew your e-mail.

(I agree with you that Brando was impressive. I also thought Greer Garson was quite good the few minutes she was on screen.)
