brenda5008's Full Review: National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Plot Details: This opinion reveals no details about the movie''s plot.
I have never been good at watching a movie twice. I mean, what's the point? I already know what's going to happen, and how it's going to end, right?
To watch a movie more than once, it has to be great.
Really great.
I love this movie because my family goes from fairly functional to crazy during the holidays. Things that happened 25 years ago become open wounds again, and it's just a stressful time where everyone finds a reason to be mad at someone else.
Yet, like Clark, I always look forward to Christmas, even though I should be scarred by the thought of it.
Just kidding, I'm sure other people have had worse.
This movie is filled with one bad event after the next for Clark Griswold. He is determined to have an old fashioned family Christmas, and when he finally goes nuts, it's absolutely hilarious.
Actually, I can't think of a time when this movie moves slowly, something funny is constantly happening.
I love watching Chevy Chase in movies like this, such as Funny Farm and the other National Lampoons he starred in. He has this role down to a perfect art. The supporting cast is wonderful, Randy Quaid makes the movie on more than one occasion.
I think you'll enjoy this movie because, on some level, anyone with a family should be able to relate to the Griswolds.
When your holiday seems stressful, or if you just need a laugh (I just watched this in September and laughed until my ribs hurt), sit down and watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.
