Well, I don't dislike Day...even though I pick on it a lot (which was mainly caused by spending lots of time on alt.horror--where there's a very vocal contingent that dislikes Dawn and loves Day). I simply think it's the weakest of the three overall--and I can pretty much narrow it down to one reason: Bub the zombie.
I don't really know why Romero felt the urge to include Bub (a Frankenstein homage, perhaps), but it was something that should have been scrapped. I don't even think Bub appeared in the original script (although I could be wrong),
Anyway, a full Day of the Dead review will be forthcoming...once I go out and buy the DVD.

The zombie series is definitely one of my all time favorites, even the third film, which I think does have some intriging moments.
As always, good insight.

I find it difficult to watch any of Romero's films without thinking of it as social commentary - particularly in the crucial final scene of NotLD.
