Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.
Two of my favorite movie actors are Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon. It was a sad day for me when they died; I could watch their movies over and over again. Back then, we didn't have to listen to swearing like we do today.
The Odd Couple is one of my favorite movies. I have rented this movie a number of times and never tire of it. Some of the old films are the best films.
Walter Matthau, a sports writer named Oscar Maddison, living alone after his divorce, is a very messy person, and he likes it that way! He has things piled up everywhere.
Every week, Oscar and his friends play poker. Felix Unger, played by Jack Lemmon, is late at coming to the poker game. The regular players are worried about Felix, but finds out after a phone call, that his wife has kicked him out of the house and that she is going to file for divorce.
Felix has threatened suicide over this divorce; he does end up at Oscar's home and the friends all watch out for him, afraid that he will follow through with suicide. The bathroom scene is very funny with the guys ending up breaking in to make sure that he is ok.
Oscar agrees to take Felix in as a house-mate and this is where the FUN begins. Of course, the two of them are very incompatible. Felix needs everything just perfect and you know how Oscar feels about that! Felix cleans Oscar's apartment with very interesting/funny results!
I highly recommend this old film to anyone who enjoys comedies. I think that you will enjoy it over and over again, like I do.
