Dadgummit, Pamela--
That's exactly what I was going to say! I'm always haunted by that scene in the movie where Patton broods over his destiny; to be a warrior at that moment in time... A professional job Mike; particularly your dramatic lead-in to the body of your summary. Your evocative use of imagery made the read seem like watching the movie. As always, a very enjoyable, worthwhile read. Also, you have yet to pick a subject I'm not passionate about... That means you've got exquisite topical taste! LOL
Best To You, Mike--

Mike. Patton is a great film and makes a fine addition to any home collection.
I particularly like the bits where he would go to ancient battle fields and describe the events of long ago - speaks to my love of history.

Great job reviewing this movie, Mike! And you're right about Knight --- history does tend to repeat itself!

You know, I never thought of the I.U./Bob Knight link to this movie...but the soldier slapping incident, and the way the Army brass handled Patton in its aftermath, bear an eerie resemblance to what's been going on at I.U. recently.
Alvin Toffler, author of Future Shock, said: "If we do not learn from history, we shall be compelled to relive it."

Sounds like a movie that would make World War II sound a lot like I.U. basketball!
Did Gen. Patton ever throw any chairs?
Seriously, it was a great review. It IS something how Gen Patton could be compared to Coach Knight. :o)
