agreed! I know now that the flick has at least two avid fans. Hitchcock was one of kind for sure. Thanks for stopping.

This film blew me away. (Reply to this comment)

Wow. I am so impressed with this film. But for a couple of scenes that were obviously studio shot(car scenes)the movie is superb. It keeps you wondering what will happen next. Everything is top notch here, the screenplay, the acting, and the direction too. Great twists and turns and surprises, and things add up logically. For such an old film, it really holds up pretty well. I found it at the library, and I'm really pleased about the discovery.
The guys who are trying to do this kind of thing today can't hold a candle to Hitch.

That phone conversation was something else..."No he did NOT storyboard!"...and she sounded so NEW YORK! Thanks for the comment and remembering that piece. See everybody? Buy it! Buy it now! Jude

Thank you! What a sweet comment! For so many of these old movies, this is my first time watching them as a sentient human being. And I find them fascinating. Maybe I am a bit too enthusiastic? Jude

....are top of the line. And their REBECCA is terrific. The telephone conversation with Joan Fontaine is a great extra.... Wonderful movie - I am always a bit disappointed at the changes from the story in the book. But the movie and this DVD do NOT disappoint. And neither does your fine review. Thanks!

I first saw this movie in 1942 I think. I remember that Mrs. Danvers scared me then, and she scared me again when I was watching it with you. In 1942 I thought Sir Olivier was dashing and handsome and masterful. Seeing it in 2002, I thought he was a domineering jerk. Time fugits on. I never did see Hitchcock in this one. Darn.

Hitchcock is one of my favorite directors of all time and this is one of my favorite Hitchcock movies. I may very well go out and buy the DVD when I have money.
