Bravo, as usual! (Reply to this comment)
by Penguinlady
This is my husband's favorite film of all time; he shows it every semester in his film history class, and he's been trying, ever since we met, to get me to watch it with him. But as a child of Survivors, I'm shying away from it. I know what the choice is about and I just don't think I'm up to it.
And there's also a part of me that resents the fact that these kinds of experiences are made into movies for entertainment. Yes, I know they have educational and perhaps cathartic value, but... I feel the same way about "Titanic" - these horrors actually happened to real people and shouldn't be sold as entertainment for the price of a ticket and a bucket of popcorn.
But, as usual, I enjoyed and got a lot out of your sensitive review, and you may even have pushed me a step or two closer to actually seeing the movie. For which my husband will thank you, even if I don't!

Incredible (Reply to this comment)

What a beautiful review! I can't believe that I somehow managed to miss this great film but that shall now be rectified. Also incredible besides the beauty of this review is that only two people have commented on it. But I'm not one to talk because I fail to comment too often. I had to thank you for this however. Love your writing.

. . . choices to make, David.
After reading all five postings on this film, I choose to give this review the MH that it so richly deserves.
Very nicely done.
