Corman actually did pretty well with a budget. I think I recall seeing a few of his schlock-horror films. Another guy who did well on low bucks was John Carpenter with Assault on Precinct Thirteen. Thanks for leaving a comment, Brian. ;->

This and a lot of the other early gangsters pictures did it with a lot more style than many contemporary films. They showed you enough to get the point but did not make a splatterfest out of it. Thanks for your comment, Matt. You will undoubtedly enjoy this if you see it.

Little Shop of Gangsters (Reply to this comment)

Roger Corman directed ... a hard-hitting, well orchestrated tale. Period sets, automobiles, clothes, and weapons were impeccable.
Really? Neat! I've seen a few of Corman's low-budget horror-shlock films, and i've thought he showed some sneaky talent in him. But how did he wind up with a budget? I'm happy to hear he spent it well. Excellent review!
cheers,

Of course, the movies today show how brutal things like this really were back then. That's one of the reason I like history movies today, but they seem to (today) have a politically correct slant.
