Hi Colin - what you typically see now like Pulp Fiction is not noir. Noir were low budget crime dramas with a usually unhappy ending. Fate played a big part in the drama and it usually bit the protagonist you know where. They say noir about movies made now a days because it sounds cool, I guess. :>

a good review of a movie I hadn't heard of. Among other things, you've helped me better understand the concept (or origin) of "film noir," which I've always associated with dark comedies like Dr. Stangelove, Fargo and Pulp Fiction.
