"And seeing as how it's a 'chick flick' it has to count as 'Quality Time' right?.." - ah, the young one is crafty...

Cheers Capt..

I shall take your sagely advice and immediately arrange for both pre and post-nuptual viewings of said film.

And seeing as how it's a 'chick flick' it has to count as 'Quality Time' right?..

Keeeeer-ching!

Great review as per.

Thanks! :-)

I have to confess at this point that I've never actually seen this film from start to finish.. (pause for gasps of horror)

GASP! SHOCK!! HORROR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know how sometimes you think you know a film so well, and then one day you realize you've not actually watched the whole thing?

I know that feeling only too well...

Funnily enough I've just got engaged to my best friend, despite the fact that almost 2 years ago on a long car journey to Scotland we had 'that' conversation about 'can guys and girls ever really be friends'... in which I told her, quite assuredly, that we would never be anything more than friends.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.... that's soooooooooooooooo sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!! :-P

Should I watch it now, or wait until we're married?

Both, probably. It'll still affect you slightly differently after you've been married a while. Watch it now, together, and then after you've been married for a year. Believe me, it's like watching two different films. Almost.

Anyways, I shall soon be joining you in the blessed state of marital harmony Captaind (not literally of course, that would be hideous) so wish me well!

For a minute you had me scared... :-P

I wish you all the very best, and hope you're both as happy as we are! :-D

(Hhhhm, I'm sure this comment had a point, let me know if you find it)

Oh I never expect comments to have a point Tom, otherwise what would they be for?!?!? Erm...

Anyways, interesting point about ones own personal experience effecting your viewing/enjoyment. Funnily enough I've just got engaged to my best friend, despite the fact that almost 2 years ago on a long car journey to Scotland we had 'that' conversation about 'can guys and girls ever really be friends'... in which I told her, quite assuredly, that we would never be anything more than friends.

Well good job I cleared that little issue up at the start!

Suffice to say I'm happy to bite the bullet when I'm wrong and consume ample helpings of humble pie.

So, here's the big question (well, ok, the second big question after: 'Hey darling, I'm a complete schmuck who thought we could just be friends, er.. will you marry me?')

Should I watch it now, or wait until we're married?

Although I guess it doesn't make much odds now.

Anyways, I shall soon be joining you in the blessed state of marital harmony Captaind (not literally of course, that would be hideous) so wish me well!

"You've got "Rob Beiner" at one point." - oops... well the B sort of looked like an R... have corrected it now! Thanks for pointing it out to me.

Ah well... and I thought you just loved romantic comedies, Marc! :-P (Almost as much as Shannon loves "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen"!!)

You've got "Rob Beiner" at one point.

Very nice review, although I'm sick to death of this movie. Still, it would probably be pretty on my list, though my list would be 'Least Annoying Romance Movies'

Cheers.

Hey, at least I did mention it (right at the start, too!) - but it's something that defies description really... I think.

Yep, nothing this year so far has impressed. (Though honestly, did I expect either "50 First Dates" or "Laws of Attraction" to be much better than average? Nooooooo....)

manage to write a review on this film (a very good review) and not mention the orgasm in the restaurant? The inclusion of that scene by itself precludes this film being exclusively a chick-flick.

I agree, the term "chick flick" does grate on me too. I guess it's the predictable, sappy romances I can't abide. Give me a good suspense thriller or something that makes me think, then I'm happy. True comedy I love but not most of the stupid stuff that is churned out these days.

Strangely enough, I like many films termed "chick flicks", but I detest the term "chick flick".

We esoterics, eh? Strange...

I love Billy but have never been too fond of Meg, she grates on me in some way. (Sorry.) Not being a big fan of so-called "chick flicks," I don't know if I could come up with a top ten list but this would probably be on it because it is very funny. Nice write up!

Have a great day hon!
