rojothegreat's Full Review: Ken Burns' The Civil War: A Film Directed By Ken B...
Simply, this is the most amazing Civil War documentary that I have every seen. The scope and detail of the film is awesome with historians giving opinions and a great soundtrack to set the mood.
The retelling of the battles is so real that the viewer often becomes wrapped up, watching the armies march on the maps and the commanders giving their inner thoughts on life, the war, and mankind.
The voice-overs and pictures tell the tales of the Civil War from the great to the small. Looking back it was hard to find anything that Ken Burns missed.
The entire series runs about 12 hours. The book is cool too, covering everything that the series does. If you like books better then tapes you can get that instead. But get one so you don't miss out on this national, historical treasure.
This is a must have for any Civil War buff.
