Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie''s plot.
It took seven years for this seqeul, and it was worth the wait. During that seven year period, Arnold Schwarzenegger had become the biggest action movie star of the decade, and writer/producer/director James Cameron had spit out some classic films("Aliens" being among his best) all of this was due to the runaway success of "The Terminator" in 1984. "Terminator 2" takes place ten years after the events in the original, and focuses on ten year old John Conner(he's not 13 years old as "T3" would have us believe, he was born in Febuary 1985), who in the near future will lead an army of human soldiers into battle against machines hellbent on controlling earth. In the second installment, Arnold plays the "good" Terminator, sent back to protect John Conner, while Robert Patrick plays the T-1000, an advanced Terminator made up of liquid metal, who's sent back in time to kill young John. Linda Hamilton's character Sarah Conner plays a huge role in this flick, she's the woman who gives her son the tools neccessary to be the future leader he is destined to become. This movie is big on special effects and also big on story and good character development. When this movie was released in 1991 it became an instant blockbuster, and to this day remains one of the top 50 highest grossing movies of all time. While "T2", in my epinion, is not better than the original it is a worthy sequel and is definitley a classic film.
I also recommend the "T2" special edition DVD, which has 15 minutes of extra scenes added in plus an alternate ending.
