I thought Fried Green Tomatoes was about the best studio film released that year. Well, one of the best, at least. I agree with the number of stars you gave this, but I don't know that the plot holes are as gaping, or the morality as lacking, as you make them out to be.

Sure, we tire of seeing the same stereotypes played out over and over, but parables like this one will do that, and the twist at the end, I thought, made this one fun parable.

Anyway, very fine review, as always.
