kligor's Full Review: Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
Plot Details: This opinion reveals major details about the movie's plot.
"Home Alone 2: Lost in New York" is another great movie which is also one of my favorites. Macaulay Culkin does it again. He succeeds to entertain millions more. I have to give it to him, he is one of my favorite actors
Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin ) is a 10-year-old boy, with a lot of attitude (I believe I mentioned that in my last "home alone" review). When Kevin goes to sing with a choir, and he sings his solo, his brother, Buzz (Devin Ratray) plays an ill-timed joke, by taking his candle, and banging on Kevin's head with it, like on a drum set. Kevin gets angry, and pushes Buzz, and of course knocks down the rest of the choir.
Kevin feels that his whole family turns against him in a failing attempt to prove that Buzz didn't mean his apology. Kevin gets sent to the attic, and wishes that he could go on his own vacation without any of his family members.
The next morning, everything was okay (except for the fact that they were running late to the airport), until they got to the airport. At the airport, Kevin needed batteries for his toy, and stayed behind to put in the batteries. When he tried to catch up with his family, he saw a guy that looked like his dad (from behind-same coat and same hair). Kevin was supposed to fly to Florida, and instead, he followed the guy that looked like his dad to the wrong plane.
When Kevin came out of the plane, he was lost. Minutes later, he found out that he was in New York. For a minute, Kevin was shocked, but then realized, that his wish came true again, this year.
Kevin decides to go to one of the world's finest hotels, since he had his dad's wallet, and credit cards. And of course without giving it a second thought, he easily comes up with an excuse of why he is signing into a nice hotel, alone.
The second day that Kevin is in New York, he decides to go to Duncan's toy Store, the store that Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern) plan to rob on Christmas Eve. The store is a very big one, and therefore, it is filled with a lot of cash.
When Kevin comes back to the hotel, the concierge is waiting for him with a smirk on his face. The concierge discovered that the credit card was stolen, and scared Kevin out of the hotel.
Very soon after that, he does it again: he goes to his uncle's abandoned house, and plans traps for Harry and Marv. Then, he goes to Duncan's toy store to get Harry and Marv to run after him, to his uncle's abandoned house. In there, again, Harry and Marv fall into all his traps. My favorite trap, is when Kevin lights Harry's head with a blow-torch, and the only water around is in the toilet, when Harry dips his head in the toilet, from outside you see that something in the house exploded. That's because the water in the toilet was kerosene.
The movie kept me laughing for a long time. I've watched Home Alone 2, at least a dozen times, and I still don't get bored of it.
I highly recommend this movie to everybody. It's appropriate for children of any age. It's a great movie.
