8 Seconds

You know I have always liked to watch movies. I consider myself to be a true horror fan at best. I really never use to watch movies unless they were horrors. There would be sometimes where I watched other movies, but not as much as horror. But then in 1994, I was with a bunch of people at a movie called "8 Seconds". My friends had to drag me in, but I am so glad they did.

You know how some people get inspired by love stories, or Titanic stories. Well, I was inspired by the real life story of rodeo legend Lane Frost. And if you have watched it, I know that somewhere in that movie you felt that Lane was somewhere around you watching with you.

Who was Lane Frost? Who wasn't he is the question here. Lane Frost was a boy who loved to bull ride. He was born to be a bull rider. I really never believed that someone was born to be anything, but I believe that Lane Frost was born to ride. I also believe that Lane Frost without the rodeo was nothing, he lived doing what he loved, and he died loving what he did.

There is something that I always have kept in my mind, as a matter of fact I even had it engraved in wood, and it is hanging on my wall in my living room. There was a specific saying that Lane Frost said before his death, and I believe this whole heartedly.

"Don't be afraid to go after what you want to do, and what you want to be. But don't be afraid of the consequences either." Lane Frost

The one thing I have to say is this. On October 12, 1963 a beautiful, strong, energetic soul was born. And on July 30, 1989 that same wonderful soul was taken from us in less than 15 seconds doing exactly what he loved. In my opinion Lane Frost was the bull and the rider. He was and will always be the "Rodeo".
