Ok, I hate the rodeo. I dislike the country. Horses and Cows not only scare me, they also smell bad. But, even I was drawn into this movie. Many of you might say, " Luke Perry??..get serious!" But, no doubt about it, Perry does an excellent job as the late bullriding champion Lane Frost.
The movie is about the life and tragic death of Lane Frost, who became champion two years prior. The movie gets into the personal life of Frost and allows you to really get to know the man. Starting with his young days when he struggled, to his days on the road and the stress it caused. It portrays his relationships with his love interest and his close bond with his family and friends, depicting how some people make sacrifices to follow their dreams.
Despite knowing before hand that the lead character dies, you are actually sad when it happens. This is in part due to Perry's great acting as Frost and due to the movies excellent job of letting you get to know the man. You cringe when he is gored near the end and feel saddened for his friends and family that must now go on.
I really liked this movie, a serious and sometimes funny movie about the life and death of a man few know about.
