I know that is a strange title.. but it's true.
I got the soundtrack to this movie from
a CD club, because I didn't send the card back in
in time. I had never heard of the movie, so I was
going to send it back.. when I saw that the soundtrack
had a lot of country artists on it that I liked. So
I decided to keep the CD. Well.. I LOVED the soundtrack.
I listened to it forever to learn how to play the
theme song on the piano...
Anyway, my sister taped the movie for me off of cable,
and brought it over one night for me to watch. Now,
I'm not a rodeo fan. I had vaguely heard of Lane Frost,
but I couldn't have picked him from a crowd. I'll probably
get kicked out of the female gender for saying this,
but I don't like Luke Perry, at least I didn't at the time.
I thought that it was a horrible casting job.. pretentious
Dylan from 90210 as a rodeo cowboy?? NO WAY.
Well, I was wrong. And for once, I'm glad I was. This movie
tugs at your heart like nothing else. The fact that it's
a true story makes it even more tragic. From the beginning,
it draws you in and makes you care about the characters in
the film. Perry actually does make a believable cowboy,
and Stephen Baldwin is hilarious as Tuff Hedemann, one of
Lane's good friends and fellow rodeo guys.
This movie made me cry, especially when they showed pictures
of the real Lane Frost during the ending credits.
Even if you think you'll hate this movie.. watch it anyway.
I was wrong.. maybe you will be too.
