This was another movie I caught one night on HBO where there was nothing else on and boy am I glad I did. 3 guys have a band "The Lone Rangers" and decide if they can get their demo tape played for a local radio station, they'll be set.
Brendan Frasier with long hair (ooh la la) is Chazz; Steve Buscemi (aka "Mr. Pink" of "Reservoir Dogs") is Rex; and Adam Sandler is Pip. They accidently take the radio station hostage with play guns and send the police out looking for Chazz' girlfriend Kayla (Amy Locane of "Crybaby") because she has the only copy left of the demo tape.
Judd Nelson plays a big time record producer, Michael Richards is the radio station accountant hiding in the air shaft, Ernie Hudson plays one of the cops as does Chris Farley. Michael McKeon plays the wimpy radio station manager, who unbeknownst to the radio d.j. Ian (Joe Mantegna) is going to turn the station's play format over to easy listening starting Monday. David Arquette also has a small role.
Ok, eventually the cops track down Kayla, but the tape can't be played so the band plays live atop the radio station itself. At the end it shows the band dressed in prison jumpsuits playing in prison and on the screen is a written blurb about the fate of the band - that they'll be touring in 10 months, 6 with good behavior - something like that.
Steve Buscemi is great as a scrawny looking rock musician and Brendan Frasier never looked better. Adam Sandler is well, Adam Sandler, there was really nothing great about his performance.
