Perhaps I'm more pessimistic about human nature. I honestly don't think "most" people would've done the same. That's part of the reason why this movie is so refreshing ... because it shows a decent person worthy of admiration and respect in a world of other persons who aren't so decent. Personally, I'd have kept such a promise. But it's easy for me to say that since I'm single now. However, I was married for 20 years. And, my ex and Muriel would have been good friends (grin).

This is a sweet and refreshing movie that just leaves you feeling good--and his wife and her ex-husband are true stinkers that are in such contrast to those two special people that you wonder whatever led to their marriages in the first place!!!
