How could a cast like this be so criminally unfunny?
by scott29 | Oct 06 '00
Pros: It's always neat to see a huge cast like this one.
Cons: How can so many talented people combine to make junk like this?

at the theater when we told the manager it was the worst movie we had ever seen (we couldn't even stay til the end, thats how bad it was! One of the 3 movies I have walked out of before the end!). What a pure stinker!

Hope this warning keeps others from making the mistake - they might not be so lucky as to be able to get a refund!

xoxo,
Susan

Thanks a lot. Glad you liked the review. If you're familiar with that type of clinic, you'll most likely enjoy the movie more than I did.

I roo am a big fan of Steve Martin's, and also did the "Silly Dance" to the undelight of probably dozens of people -----no senses of humor, them.!!

But seeing that cast, How could it miss? I agree. I wonder if that fine line between what we called "gallows humor" at any mental health clinic I practiced at over the years, is easily transferrable to film.

I know we've cracked up at staff meetings, sharing the latest about dear Mr. Snurklefrinkldabber and his continued visions of some things a bit more beningn than sugar plums. And PLEASE beleive me, the laughter was not unkind --- NOT IN THE LEAST. It's how mental health therapist heep our own sanity -because if we took home with us every one of the tragedies of the human condition, we wouldn't last very long,or ultimately, be of any help to anyeone. It's just a way, confidentially, of unburdenning one therapist from going into "Overwhelm" Mode. This is right next to "4 weeks off for Pre-burn-out mode".
I haven't seen the movie. Your review does, i a sense make we want to see it, now that those days are over. Plus all the actors are my faves too.
Thanks for the heads up. I have to watch my pennies, and I think I'll wait til video time.
Thanks Scott,
Marty
