This is one of the Anime (Japanese Animation) titles in my personal video collection. I have watched it, therefore, several times. I think it is better than quite a few of the other Anime I have seen, since the plot is set up well and is understandable even to a "gaijin" who has not read the "Manga" (Japanese comic books) that this is based on.

The basic plot outline is about the shifting political and military control of Japan during the time of shoguns and samauri. The "Devils of Kimon", a group of mystical assasins with superhuman powers, are helping the "Shogun of the Dark" in his bid for power. Their mission is to put up a front of sickness in a village key to shipping stolen gold to the "Shogun of the Dark", to discourage others from uncovering the truth. They would have succeeded, were it not for a wandering stranger and his new-found "friends"-a government agent who recriuts the drifter Jubei, and a female ninja poison-taster.

The only thing that some people might not like about this anime is some of the more graphic sex and violence scenes. Not all Anime has these sorts of scenes (like a lot of the "Giant Robo" brand of Anime) but some of it does. This is a not-for-kids selection, so keep the little ones away. Watch it once they are asleep!!! (That's what I do!)
