Plot Details: This opinion reveals major details about the movie's plot.
From the first time I ever saw this movie, I fell in love with it. I bought the DVD recently so I could watch it as much as I liked. At this point I believe I've watched it about 5 times since buying it. I love this movie so much because if you break it down its a classic super-hero movie. Good against Evil in the pursuit of Happiness.
Tank Girl was based on a cult British comic strip that was created in 1988 by two gents in their 20's. You can now own the graphic novels of the infamous comic. With the addition of the movie, Tank Girl has become a cult hit across the world. She is highly recognized as a Punk Goddess.
Tank Girl, starring Lori Petty and Naomi Watts, is about a post apocolyptic world (the year is 2033) where Water is valued above anything else. It hasn't rained in years because of a huge meteor that hit the planet and wiped out most of civilization. The survivors on this world are much like scavengers in what they do to survive.
The movie opens with Rachel, played by Lori Petty, riding a buffalo in the dessert, searching for a birthday present for her boyfriend. She finds the corpse of a Water & Power* employee and robs him of his boots, a sack of water, and a DangerBall.
*Water & Power are the bad guys. A company run by the evil Kesslee (played by Malcolm McDowell) who holds the world in his grasp since he is sure that he controls almost all the water in the world, down to the last drop.
We soon learn that Kesslee has two enemies that will stand in his way of controlling the entire world's supply of water;
1. The Rippers: a small army of half men/half kangaroo beings, created by Johnny Prophet for the Government, whose chosen purpose is to bring down W&P after discovering their creator's death.
2. Tank Girl: A girl with a spunky attitude, an odd sense of fashion and her obediant tank. Its a beautiful thing.
After W&P kill Rachel's adoptive family, including her boyfriend, she vows to save a little girl who survived, and take down Kesslee.
After she is captured, taken to W&P for torture, meets up with a brainy, electrical engineer named Jet (played by Naomi Watts), escaping after being used as bait to find the Rippers, stealing a jet and tank from W&P, convincing the Rippers that they do not work for W&P, saving the little girl from a house of ill repute before she is deflowered by Iggy Pop, and a huge dance number to Cole Porter's "Let's Do It!" - this movie will keep you on the edge of your seat and laughing hysterically through it all.
