Normally, I'm all about any movie with a sexy woman in the lead, especially when intercourse with a marsupial is involved. However, I feel that Tank Girl failed me.
First of all, if you're one of those people who are interested in plot, then this isn't you're type of movie, because the scriptwriters and directors didn't think a plot is a neccessary device for a movie. The momentum of the movie progresses on completely unbelievable and sometimes absurd devices.
For those of you familiar with the comic and expect this movie to be funny... guess again. Humor, for the most part, also was deemed unneccessary by the people involved in making this film.
The focus is on a one dimensional butch woman played by Lori Petty, named Tank Girl. Tank Girl runs around, killing and saving people. She is filled with corny, rough, one liners, whose inadequacy leave awkward silences all through the film.
All is not lost, however. If one enjoys action, if one likes to smoke a little of the reefer, and sit back and enjoy a film, then Tank Girl might suffice. There are many action scenes which while not very dramatic, are kinda fun and amusing. Occasionally the periodic cuts of animation are cool, especially if one is tripping on some pyramid acid.
All in all, those who do not expect much, or anything at all, might not be disapointed, and even chuckle now and again.
