Beethoven: Movie Brilliance for the Brilliant - LEAN AND MEAN WO

Written: Dec 13 '03 (Updated Jan 14 '04)
  • User Rating: Excellent
  • Action Factor:
  • Suspense:
Pros:Arouses an interest in a deserving subject
Cons:Unbelievably speculative, sensationalised pov
The Bottom Line: Worth watching at least once.

Plot Details: This opinion reveals no details about the movie's plot.

Bernard Rose’s bold attempt, like Amadeus, the movie about Mozart, similarly delusional
Extremely evocative imagery, cinematography, Prague location, Costuming extraordinary
Entwined with some, but not nearly enough Exquisite music, make for a
Touching account of the mis-understood composer’s adult life.
Historical facts obscured by sensational artistic licence, e.g. the
Original phrase was "Eternal" not "Immortal" Beloved.
Verily, despite the highly speculative premise, still worth a viewing,
Excellent acting, a pleasure to watch, full listing of actors at *.
Not really for young children, should whet the classical appetite of your teen
Slightly slow in places, could have been edited shorter,
But a faster pace would have thinned the richness.
Un-sequenced series of scenes, beginning with his death,
Told in the style of first person narrative (story-telling)
This will make for a satisfying night in with the family.
