Plot Details: This opinion reveals major details about the movie's plot.
Ode To Don Juan
So young, just twenty-one,
You thought of suicide, sweet dreamer;
Will the fantasy now save you,
That your love still waits?
No swordplay for you, though,
The doctor will help;
Come, wake from this dream
And enter the real world!
Yet this shrink knows better,
He treasures your spirit, sweet dreamer;
Will your passion for women
Inspire the lover in him?
Oh, the mystery lives on,
Between delusion and saneness;
Come, make me believe
The Don Juan of you.
Your story, so seductive,
A harem found you, sweet dreamer.
Now why had you imagined
You could only love one?
All women have beauty inside
In their own special way;
Come, with your smoky-eyed gaze,
make love to my soul.
How you do look the part,
Though they demasked you, sweet dreamer;
Will you remain the great lover
When fin'ly you must swallow a drug?
At the conference of doctors,
You say what they want,
Come back, sweet dreamer,
this boy makes me cry.
And so they release you,
Your friendly shrink retires, sweet dreamer;
Whatever else can you do,
But move in with him and his wife?
The myth of Don Juan returns,
And everyones passion;
Come now, great lover,
frolic with me again.
Final Thoughts
Johnny Depp couldnt have made a more perfect Don Juan with his intensely captivating good looks and consummate skill as an actor in any off-beaten role given him. Ive only seen him in a wacky, older comedy Cry Baby or something like that, but his Edward Scissorhands among others received critical acclaim.
Likewise with Marlon Brando (The Godfather), who delightfully sank his teeth into the role of the shrink, Dr. Jack Mickler, he proved that neither age, retirement or weight gain may deter one from bringing out the great lover within. He learned from his deluded client, Don Juan, that the gift of seduction starts in your attitude, in the way you communicate your desire so the recipient realizes you adore only them. Faye Dunaway, as his neglected wife, enjoys her new husband eagerly and marital love in the twilight years never before looks so tastefully and playfully done.
Jeremy Levin certainly knows how to write an original script, one that celebrates the idiosyncrasies that enrich our lives and the lives of others. The movie shows us how very hard life will try to strip us of our spirit, but that finally the right person will give us the chance to reveal ourselves and our reality. How lovely! I can surely do no better thing today than recommend this sensuous and never boring movie with a PG-13 rating.
"Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman?"
Bryan Adam's gloriously erotic song of said title, which plays during the final credits and in the following video, says it all. Whether young, old, married, single or gay, you will nevertheless sigh in rapture for Don Juan de Marco, for the world inhabits such beauty in each and everyone of us. May we dream through our life as only great lovers can do!

I have written this Epinion as part of proeditors E-Prime of Life write-off, which means that all forms of to be have not sullied my writing. I chose this class-act movie for its appropriateness to the theme and also for helping my friend NFP at Epinions to better enjoy his fiftieth birthday today. Happy birthday, Nick!
