In my humble opinion, 'Clueless' is what all teen movies should aspire to be.
Adolescence is a time when everyone faces the same ego-catastrophes, the same awkward sink-thru-the-floor crises... yet Hollywood movies in general do very little to address those fears except to act them out in degrading contexts of jeering and pointing.
'Clueless' seems to me to raise the bar to a whole new level, by offering to adolescent viewers a set of effective verbal strategies for 'finessing' these awkward moments-- dealing with dates and status and rejection, etc etc etc.
As a feat of screenwriting, this is little short of miraculous...
