Pros:Ahh, hmmm. You get to see Rose McGowan's breasts
Cons:Bizarre film which is not as advertised on the packaging
The Bottom Line: My DVD player may need to be checked for diseases after inserting this into it.

Plot Details: This opinion reveals major details about the movie's plot.

Of all the screwed up films I have seen, The Doom Generation has got to rank right up there with the worst of them.

The package to The Doom Generation read that this was a funny action adventure comedy film. Nothing could be further from the truth.

I recall reading the cover, "A Savagely Funny Film!" a hot girl in a short dress, shotguns, an old car, people chasing them, when all they want to do is eat Doritos. Yes, that isn't a coherent sentence. But the package said something like that, and also:
Sex
Violence
Whatever.

So, I was pretty intrigued. Had to get it.

The Doom Generation is a story about a young guy dating a woman who is a few years older than he is, and their adventure one night. She is tripping on crystal meth, he is just a burnout. The girl, Amy Blue, is played by Rose McGowan, her boyfriend is Jordan White, played by James Duval. His character is clueless and he clearly doesn't know half of what is good for him.

These two young lovers are busy trying to have sex at the drive in when they are interrupted by someone getting beaten up, on their car. He is saved by the two, who let him in the car, then speed away. His name is Xavier Red. (Hmm, Red, White and Blue)

Xavier immediately becomes one of the most offensive people you'll ever hear speak. I was wishing they'd open the door and throw him out while driving at an incredibly high rate of speed. The boyfriend, Jordan, needed to be kicked out of the car also, as he didn't know how to open his mouth to defend any kind of honor of his girlfriend. How anyone would put up with a guy talking to his girlfriend that way is beyond me. But stupid little Jordan seems to immediately idolize Xavier, for really no apparent reason other than he was just getting his butt kicked in a major way.

Eventually the threesome get hungry and end up at a convenience store with the stereotypical Korean owner. The Korean owner pulls a shotgun on the couple for a very stupid reason, Xavier comes out of nowhere to save the day, or start a very odd chain of events. While wrestling with the owner with the shotgun, the shotgun goes off, leading to a total decapitation of the owner. The head winds up sitting in the relish near the hot-dogs. It pukes, then begins speaking. Its screwed up. The headless body continues to spurt blood all over the counter. It's probably the best special effects in the movie.

From there the three take off and stay at hotel rooms, thinking they are on the run. I really don't understand why they didn't stick around, call the police and claim self defense. But off they go, and anywhere they stop to buy anything the price is always $6.66.

Even stranger, everywhere they go, someone recognizes Amy and calls her some other name. They are certain they know her, and this always results in a fight and if not a death, at least a serious bodily injury.

Meanwhile, we are introduced to Xavier's nasty (in my opinion) behavior of masturbating and then drinking his own (yeah, you get the idea) additionally, we begin to see some sort of homosexual attraction between Xavier and Jordan. We expect them to get it on. This wasn't what I had in mind when getting this film.

At the same time, Amy begins cheating on Jordan with Xavier. Jordan doesn't like it at first, but doesn't seem to adverse to it either. He is such a total loser. It gets to the point where he is asked if he wants to have sex with her first, or if they should have Amy flip a coin. He doesn't care, and he gets to go wait out in the car.

When he finally gets to come in and "get some" he finds his romp nastily interrupted by Xavier, who climbs on and gets into Jordan from behind. This degenerates into a nasty three way, which Amy must stop to go pee. She makes a fatal mistake by going outside, rather than going on one of them, as was suggested.

In burst a gang of men clad only in tube socks, (and not on their feet) they proceed to repeatedly gang rape Amy on a United States flag (there is that Red White and Blue thing again), which is just a disturbing scene to watch, while making Jordan and Xavier watch. It gets worse.

It gets a lot worse.

Hedge clippers are brought in, and I'll leave the rest up to your imagination. Thankfully, most of this scene is filmed under a strobe light.

Somehow Amy and Xavier survive, and they ride off into the sunset. Sort of.

Overall this film stinks for what it was advertised to be. It is strange, and disjointed. There is a scene where the authorities decide to go after the three, deciding deadly force is authorized, yet we never see the police or any other law enforcement authority after them. Reason for the scene? I don't know. It didn't fit, it was pointless.

Language: if you could get an academy award for saying a certain word which begins in F, ends in K and has UC in the middle, Rose McGowan would be the winner.

There are a few other marginal stars which make an appearance in this film, none really notable.

Breasts: You see Rose's a bunch of times, in the bathtub, or bouncing around while getting busy. And I couldn't help but think, those certainly weren't worth watching the movie for. Nothing to write home about.
