Aeon Flux is art. That alone should tell you whether it will appeal to you. Like Kubrick's 2001 or a Warhol movie, its experimental and unconventional. The animation style is very unique in every aspect, but most distinctivly memorable for the freakishly elongated characters. The settings are spacious abstract futurescapes. The action is both fast paced and graceful. Altogether, the creativity and animation talent displayed in this show is simply amazing.

Aeon is the amoral, decisive operative who's motives and loyalties are rarely revealed. In nearly every episode she is competing in some fashion against her enemy/lover Trevor Goodchild, dictator of Breen, which neighbors the anarchist nation of Monica, Aeon's homeland.
Trevor is a brilliant elitist man with a tendency towards sadism and maybe even nihilism. Hes in love with his absolute power, but can't bring himself to destroy Aeon, who's frequent sabotage attacks provide a major headache to his rule. Aeon on the other hand, works outside the system sometimes hiring out her services as a mercenary, and sometimes attacking Trevor's operations simply out of spite.
Occaisonally supporting characters are introduced, but none appear in more than a single episode.
There is no over arching story between episodes, and no attempt at linearity, in fact Aeon dies in roughly half of them. Thematically there is a lot of emphasis on twisted sexuality, power games, psychological torture and frenetic violence. The dialouge is sparse
Aeon Flux is aesthetically and narratively in a league of its own. I can think of no other western animation that measures up. This series is a unique creation that anyone looking for a sophisticated visual experience should enjoy.
