Reading through all of these for some damned reason . . ..
you said...
". . .but in my defence, I wasnt the first one to do it!!"
A thought: it would have been classy to link to the other(s). I mean, given all the other links already here . . ..
Just a thought.
Very nicely done.

I really like this film. (Reply to this comment)

I have to disagree with you on some points. I like Data's "To Hell with our orders", especially considering Picard's back story.
I also can't agree with the fact that there was more that the crew could have accomplished. The Borg is this particular Enterprise's main enemy. I don't think Insurrection was that great. It seemed like a tv-movie or an expanded episode.
Good review though.

"Massively improbable" - hmm, sounds about right! But this one was fun with it! (of the Trek films, 2,4,6,8, and 9 are fun)
Thanks from commenting all the way from my wife's home country! :-D

this film, especially following the weak "Generations". The parts with Cochran are excellent. If you remember, the series always portrayed Cochran as some sort of heroic genius ahead of his time. I liked it that he turned out to be just some scruffy guy that got lucky.
the Enterprise is shielded from the effects by a temporal vortex (plot plausibility is not a strong concern in this film)
Ha! It wouldn't be a Star Trek movie without a truckload of plot implausibility. The technobabble is part of the inherent charm! Temporal vortexes, plasma conduits, reversed shield polarity - the stuff Trek is made of......;)

I love all things Star Trek and pretty much anything sci-fi. You have a very balanced and accurate review here, I remember feeling a tad disappointed with the film but still enjoyed it immensely.
Hope you're feeling better now Dave, have a great day!

I've never... (Reply to this comment)
by wrdnik3
...watched a Star Trek movie, and I've never seen more than a handful of episodes of some of the series (I don't know which ones, they weren't really that memorable). They weren't as action-packed and exciting as the Star Wars kind of sci-fi, and their plots and futuristic science were massively improbable - in other words, I thought they were both boring and stupid. But your review makes this movie sound enjoyable, and since I like watching "fun, undemanding sci-fi films", I think I might actually give this one a try.
Great review.
