What do you get when you mix an mild-mannered Irish lad seeking revenge for the murder of his father at the family dinner table with a New York cop who, nearing retirement and bound to uphold the law, has never had to pull the trigger in his entire career? Well, with Brad Pitt and Harrison Ford playing the roles respectively, a movie that is every bit as plausible as the writers intended it to be and one that will leave the viewer wondering whose side to take.
Ford plays the part of an aging cop so well you would think he was nearing the end of his acting career. More recent films however dispel this notion and simply lend credence to his ability to avoid a strict stereotype. Brad Pitt pulls off an Irish accent admirably so that you would think he grew up on the green isle.
If you're looking for sex or a lot of violence in this movie , you won't get it--though there is a wee bit of shooting and blood. If you're into intrigue, however, this movie will give you some of that with a story line apart from the usual offering.
If you like the Irish them but prefer something with a lot more action and drama, you might consider Patriot Games (based on the Tom Clancy novel) starring Harrison Ford.
