Plot Details: This opinion reveals everything about the movie's plot.
This anime didn't, on the whole, make a lot of sense. The animation was fair, but I couldn't find the plot in that mess. It was confusing and boring. It was a good thought gone awry.
I believe Kimera is supposed to be about a Vampire race that comes from another planet who threatens our planet. Three pods fall from the sky. Inside the pods are two brothers one beautiful and one ugly and then there is Kimera. Kimera is a hermaphrodite of sorts--she can carry man's child, but she can also fertilize a woman as well? Its not clear what happened to their planet or what their particular history is or the history of our planet's interaction with their planet. Two salesmen, Osamu and Jeff get involved with the plot when they accidently run into the trio (the brothers and Kimera) when they are being collected from the pods by a scientist. A battle ensues and Osamu finds Kimera who is sealed in some kind of preservation tank. He becomes smitten with her on sight. The two brothers escape the area and the two salesmen captured by the military--but Jeff's father gets them free (he is a scientist working on the project). Once they are freed by the military they are taken to Jeff's Father's research facility. They are left alone for a bit and wander off to discover Kimera in the research facility using the father's ID and set her free. She kills some people and then ends up at a church that the ugly brother is using as a facility to set up for breeding more space vampires--Kimera is the key to all this and so is Osuma, since Kimera has taken a liking to him.
This plot moves so impossibly slow without revealing anything, and when they do tell you something its so confusing you can't make head or tales of it. I still had a bunch of questions at the end, but no real desire to watch anymore even if there were a second part. It's a real mild movie until all of a sudden with almost no warning its incredibly sexual or bloody--I do not suggest you let children view this one.
It was a short film at 45 minutes, but felt a lot longer than that. The sound track is okay. The animation is not as good as others I have seen. I would avoid this one, you don't even want to rent it--I am sorry I did. Watch another anime you like (Cowboy Bebop, Saiyuki or Fake) again and save yourself some boredom and confusion.
