It is his OPINION, though. "Too Tough" doesn't mean he deserves a Somewhat Helpful.

I believe it is mostly a matter of opinion, but I disagree with your opinion in a few respects. I found the character development to be adequate, and the formula, while unsurprising, was entertaining and humorous. I would also contend that it doesn't detract from the quality of its acheivement, even if Orson Wells wrote Citizen Kane at an equally young age, or that Ordinary People is, I agree, a more moving film. Good Will Hunting shouldn't be penalized on those grounds.
