jeffs320's Full Review: VeggieTales - Rack, Shack, and Benny
Plot Details: This opinion reveals everything about the movie's plot.
In case you have never seen any of the Veggie Tales movies, they are computer animated cartoons that teach kids Bible Stories. The characters in the movies are Vegetables, thus the title Veggie Tales. Makes sense, huh?
This movie in particular is the Bible story about Shadrach, Meshack, and Abendigo and the fiery furnace - I am sure I probably spelled their names wrong, but that is why they shortened it to Rack, Shack and Benny - makes it easier for kids to remember.
In the movie, they kids work in a chocolate factory making chocolate bunnies. The owner of the factory, Mr. Nezzer (King Nebuchanezzar from the Bible), loves the bunny more than anything else, and he decides that he wants all his employees to love the bunny as much as he does. So he makes a giant statue of the chocolate bunny and requires that all his employees worship the bunny and sing the Bunny Song.
OK, I saw someone else wrote a review of this movie and gave it a bad review because of the Bunny Song. The Bunny Song basically is saying all kinds of bad things like how the kids don't love their parents or go to church or school, they only love the Bunny. This other reviewer stated that they didn't let their kid watch this movie because of the Bunny Song. First of all, the movie is pointing out how bad that song is and how the kids stand up for what they believe in by not singing the song since they know it is wrong. I am protective of my kids, but that is just ridiculous.
Anyway, yes, to follow the story of the Fiery Furnace from the Bible, the 3 kids refuse to bow down and sing the song, so they are thrown into the furnace. God saves them, Mr. Nezzer realizes how wrong he was, and all live happily ever after.
OK, the Veggie Tales cartoons are great for kids. They teach kids good lessons and Bible Stories in a fun and interesting way. Also, there is a section in the middle of the movie that is Silly Songs with Larry (the Cucumber), the part of the show where Larry comes out and sings, a silly song. These all have absolutely nothing to do with the story, but they are just what they are called - Silly Songs.
Kids love the songs and will watch this movie over and over and over and over and over again, until you can sing the Bunny Song while you are asleep!
