Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.
I tell ya, I liked this movie. But after it was over, I was left scratching my head about how the heck they all survived for that long. People get shot, electrocuted, hit by raging water, and more, and some of them manage to get up and start running again. When I wasn't looking, Christian Slater and Minnie Driver must have turned into mermaids too. I wish I could hold my breath for that long.
Even with that big complaint, the movie is a good one for action fans. There's never a dull moment, that's for sure. The flooded town makes a perfect setting for an action movie. All the boat/jet ski chases were nice, and there is an atmospheric chase through a high school that is good too.
Morgan Freeman makes you like his character, even though he *cough* plays the bad guy. Of course, by the end of the movie, the lines between good and evil have been blurred to the point of oblivion. I won't say any more, but just expect some uncharacteristic turnarounds.
Another thing that always amazed me was that in one scene, Slater and Driver are being shot at and almost run over by a boat, then in the next they are casually talking and joking. Granted, they do this in other action movies sometimes as well, but it seems more blatant here.
A good action movie, if not the best. I would recommend just picking it up at your local library if it's ever there.
