BrianKoller's Full Review: X-Files: Fight the Future
No, I don't live in a cave, but I have never seen an episode of "The X-Files". I am not prejudiced against aliens. I don't care if aliens live amongst us, as long as they don't cause any trouble or try to date my sister. (If I had a sister, that is.)
The whole point of "The X-Files" is that
aliens have colonized Earth, and a massive
governmental conspiracy exists to hide this
fact from our sheeplike existence. The
government will stop at nothing: no, not to
stop the aliens, but to perpetuate the
cover-up. The nasty, disgusting aliens,
which are apparently the same species as the
ones from the Sigourney Weaver films, take
a back seat to the X-File's true bad guys:
humorless bureaucrats.
But there is hope that mankind will learn
the truth 'out there'. FBI Agents Scully
(Gillian Anderson) and Mulder (David Duchovny)
are on the case. They already know too much,
and their lives are in danger. Still,
crackpot author Dr. Kurtzweil (Martin Landau)
is willing to help them, even though the
insidious bureaucrats have hit men after
him as well.
Scully and Mulder have also developed a platonic
romance. This is not surprising, since they
keep saving each other's life, and they
were probably cast for their looks. Perhaps
in the sequel they will marry, and spend their
honeymoon further uncovering the massive
conspiracy instead of having sex. Although
their personalities have much in common, such
as a complete absence of humor and a tendency
to get into trouble, careful listeners can learn
differences. Mulder is the believer, Scully
is the skeptic, although she comes around after...
whoops, can't give that away.
Anyway, for a great conspiracy, rent "Chinatown".
For eye candy, watch the "X-Files". And be kind to
aliens, for they are people too. (41/100)
