Are there two movies called the Cube? (Reply to this comment)
by Aram
In your review you made the comment:
"The intelligent writing reveals classic character studies that defy convention."
I don't know what movie you saw, but The Cube that I watched had laughable dialogue, abysmal stereotypes instead of characters (a nerdy scientist! a retard! a black guy! oh my!) and a plot a sixth-grader would be embarassed to have written. Most of your reviews are spot on, but I don't know how you could even stay awake during this movie.

and of course, brevity is the soul of wit. You'd get an HR for good taste and a savvy take on the film's indy status alone! Keep up the good work.

If the initial scene of the man being killed was your absolute favorite part of the movie, I have NO faith in your opinion.

I have to disagree with snuffalupagus, if this movie doesn't make you think then there's something wrong with you.
Some of the dialogue is poor but the acting its pretty good. Remember the budget they had and you must appreciate what they have mananged to do.
Predictable? Some of it, but much much less so than the 95% of rubbish that Hollywood puts out.
Give some praise where it is due.

live up to expectations? (Reply to this comment)

it doesn't.
this movie was terribly boring and predictable.
and the acting was horribly melodramatic.
imagine the over-acting of broadway on the silver screen.
it starts of great with a little slice-and-dice scene but goes quickly down hill.
there is no resolution or answer...which is perfect for the pseudo-intellectual who thinks that kind of movie is "deep".
in summary: it smells like poo
