Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.
I sure am a shrimp when it comes to comparing some of my writing to other writers here on epinions. I'm sorry about that, and I'll try not to sound so much like a simpleton. I really admire a lot of people, even those whose opinion that I don't agree with, that can write and sound so darned intelligent! Anyway, I'll just do my best, and I apolagize for not being a better writer. You may not want to read much further if you haven't seen the movie yet, because I may mention a part or two of the movie.
I got a bit teary-eyed during a couple of times during this movie, mainly the first and last parts where it showed 'Private Ryan' as an older gentleman visiting the grave of Miller. Especially the ending, where Ryan said something to the affect that he appreciated what Miller and the other men had done for him, or something like that. In a way, that kind of epitomized my feelings and many other Americans, when we think of the people that have died in conflicts for our country. Ryan may has well have been speaking for many people when he said that. It made me a bit more thoughtful as to how I'm living my life, and how I'd rather those people didn't die in vain.
Sorry to get off on some sort of bandwagon there. I thought the actors fit their part very well, even that old ugly Van Diesel! J/k! He's not that bad. I really liked the sniper dude. The little guy (us little guys always get a bad rap, ya know?) kind of made me mad when he just froze near the end of the movie. His character tried to redeem himself later by jumping up with his gun AFTER U.S. planes were flying overhead, and things were getting better for him. I guess he had to shoot that one German soldier who was back in service for his country, after he'd wanted Miller and his guys to let him go earlier. Shoot, I'm giving away too much of the plot! Sorry. This was just one of the parts of the movie that came off a bit contrived.
I was expecting all the blood and gore, so surprisingly it didn't affect me as much as it normally would. But I definetely wouldn't think this would be a good movie for children to watch.
