I just recently watched this movie. I bought it for my husband a couple of years ago and seldom watch movies anymore. I was curious about this one because I had heard how good Tom Hanks was in it.
Aside from the fact that my husband kept telling me what was going to happen, the movie was very moving.

It is full of suspense and action. So much action that I could not tell out soldiers from the German soldiers and can easily see how we shoot each other during a war.
Being a Mother it bothered me that all the boys were so young . I guess I should say what the movie is about. Since that is one thing I did not know when I started watching it. Three boys from the same family get killed and the government made it a law that there had to be one remaining son left. So they sent the soldiers out to find the remaining son. This is Private Ryan.

This is what the whole movie is about. How they pulled these soldiers away from their troop to go and find him. There is a lot of action along the way and it really causes you to speculate on how smart the government was to do this. Of course if it was my son I would have been all for it. Do anything but get my son out of there. I cant say more because I don't want to give the movie away.

It is a good movie but it is a bloody movie and very graphic. It almost made me sick a couple of times. If I had been eating I probably would have gotten sick. So watch it on a empty stomach or turn your head. This is not a movie for children. I don't think that it would serve any purpose for a veteran to watch it. I would think that it would bring back too many bad memories.
