A NIGHT AT THE ROXBURY is a movie Ive seen more times than I care to tell.
After I saw it on PPV I had to have the video. The 20th time I saw it is just as FUNNY as the first time. I simply cant get enough of Steve and Doug.
Steve and Doug Butabi are Club hopping, dancing fools,COOL above all else,
Dreaming BROTHERS. Together they first strive to get into the hottest club in town,THE ROXBURY. You only get in this club if your "SOMEBODY" or you slip the bouncer outside a hefty sum. Steve and Doug lack both of these. They almost make it to the front of the line one night. Then the disappointing announcement comes, "The club is closed for the night, sorry folks". MAN! They almost made it, but it just wasnt in the cards that night.
Their father owns and operates a fake plant store. Their jobs are to help him at the store. This really interferes with their social lives. Its kind of hard to do any constructive work for their father when all they are interested in is getting into The ROXBURY. The other thing that holds them back for doing their work is the DREAM the two share. They want to open their OWN night club. They are constantly dreaming of how it will be so much better than THE ROXBURY.
The problem is that they neither have the money or the brains to make it happen. A little something that neither Steve or Doug seem to think is going to hold them back. If you havent seen this movie I dont want to spoil what happens to them that gets them into THE ROXBURY. I'll just skip to what happens when they make it into the club for the first time.
Steve and Doug are in disbelief at the way the inside of the club looks. Its like nothing they have ever seen. Its everything they dreamed it would be. Then they are told, "Hey guys,this is the coat room. The club is in here". I told you they were at bit shy in the brains department. The club is even more to them than the coat room was. Now they feel like they are "somebody". Steve goes into "HOTTY" over load. Theres too many good looking girls in the club. Doug calms him down and gets him back to reality.
The Butabi brothers meet Mr.Zadear,the club owner. This is the guy they want to be, successful club owner. They get to talk and have a drink with Mr Zadear. Doug ends up and tells him of an idea he has for a club theme. Mr.Zadear seems interested. Maybe they have finally made the right contact,we'll see. After Mr.Zadear walks away from the table the Butabi Brothers are approached by two ladies. Not just ordinary ladies, but real knock outs. Steve and Doug are stunned but they compose themselves enough to dance with the two HOT ladies. This is definitely one of my favorite parts of the movie. I laugh and laugh and laugh every time I watch it. Its simple fantastic.
Steve and Doug dont know it but, these two HOT-TO-TROT ladies are GOLD DIGGERS looking for a couple of very rich guys to make their way with. They do end up alone with the two brothers and its nothing but more laughs you'll get. Getting back home after the biggest night of their lives they are in heaven. Doug got their phone number. Its their first number from a lady and boy are they proud. They instantly refer to the two ladies as their girlfriends. Their will be a scene later in the movie that will no doubt pull at your heart. You cant help but to fall in love with these two guys. They really dont deserve to get what they get from these two ladies.
Their is so much more to this movie than I have told. I dont want to give away more of the good parts if you havent seen it. If your a lover of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE or just a lover of Comedies this movie is a must see for sure. The whole movie is simply hilarious. Be prepared to fall for these two zanny guys. You just wont be able to help yourself. I truly hope the make another one. However, it would be pretty tuff to top this one.
I know you'll enjoy it even if you have seen it before. Its guaranteed to make you laugh.
