Pros: Helpful for serious beanie collectors.
Cons: none really.
You wouldn't believe what some swines would do to rip you off now adays.
I bought this movie for my mom, since she is a major beanie fanatic freak. I swear this woman owns every beanie baby ever made by ty. Even those hard to find, employee only beanies.
This was an awesome, and very helpful movie, or documantary on how to spot the fakes from the real ones.
Usually the fake ones are the rare and expensive ones that you spend a grand or so on. It would be pointless to make a fake beanie if it had no value.
Now what I learned is that even though some fakes are almost exact, there are alway ways to spot the real from the rip offs.
One being quakers, he is that yellow duck. The rare one being the first in the ty series. Wingless quackers.
Some scam artists would simply slowly unstitch the wings, and remake the ty tag on the beanie. Even though they think they are smart, the idiots always seem to miss match it. Eithe by messing up a letter in the tag, or tush tag. Or by totally messing up on removing the wings.
Then there are other ways you can tell if they are fake or real.
Most fake bears have errors that you can spot just by looking at the bear, or feeling it. Some being that the ears are too far apart. The neck collar is off color, and the eyes can even be too crooked.
Lots of crooks make a living off of ebay.com by easily selling you a so called authentic ty beanie, for a lot of money. Be wary, since you cannot see it, or touch it in order to exaine it, I wouldn't go spendig a fortune on it.
This video was very helpful. It also shows you the value of some beanies in the market that are no longer being made, and how to spot their fakes.
In this sad world, there re tons of people out there trying to scam people out of their money, but if you are as serious a collector as my mom, be smart, buy this video before you go out and spend a chunk of your paycheck on a beanie baby!
Then there is the spot that shows you that some are not fake, but misprints. And these are even more expensive than the ones made right.
For instance, you get a bear missing an eye. Company error. Major money right there! A missing ear, or stitched un-correct is also a major error, and makes a major profit.
Unfortunatley for my mom from this video, she learned that her billionaire bear was a fraud. It's tush tag had the printing error that the video had sad it would.
Thankfully she didn't spend too much on it. But then again... it's worthless in the market.
It is too bad that she didn't have this video earlier, she coud of saved herself some money.
