When I went to see the Matrix, it was because I liked the previews, and i like Keanu Reeves movies. After his successes as an action star in Point Break and Speed, I had no doubt this movie would be fantastic. No disappointment there. From the word go, the Matrix exploded with thrilling action and advanced thinking. I was momentarily afraid this would be a hacker movie with all sorts of computer stuff I didn't understand. Fortunately for me, the computers played a rather small role in overall plot. They were the key to escaping the Matrix, but they were not a feature item.
The Matrix is a trap set by forces unknown to humans. A small band of ten or so people know what's going on. Keanu Reeves plays Neo, a computer expert whose life is turned upside down when he is contacted by the mysterious yet magnetic outlaw Morpheus. Morpheus believes Neo is the one to set Earth free from the Matrix. But first he must convince Neo that he is telling the truth.
All actors gave spectacular performances in this film. Laurence Fishburne is wonderful as Morpheus, bringing cool calm to this nonstop thriller.
