Wrestlers portray a character in the wrestling business. Selling their role to the audience is what makes them who they are. Mick Foley has a long and very successful career at doing just that. However, simply playing a role was not good enough for this wrestling great. He chose to portray THREE very different characters in his wrestling career. This video will give you some insight into each of these characters.
First you'll meet MANKIND as he has an interview with Jim Ross, most commonly known as J.R. DERANGED is how MANKIND has often been described.
MANKIND tells of a day, back in his school days, when he was 8 years old.
While playing with some other children he was kicked in the mouth. The result being a busted lip. The other children ran in fear at the sight of his blood. However, MANKIND discovers that he enjoys the pain and the blood. He decides to make a living enduring this pain and the spilling of his blood. He does quite well at it too.
MICK FOLEY is MANKIND, one of his characters, in this interview with J.R.
The stories that are shared are told as only MANKIND could tell them. He tells of a day he ate a worm in front of the other kids. MANKIND was so very different from the other children that he was always picked on by them. They threw worms at him and to get them back he just decided to gross them out by eating one. MANKIND tells his sad story of how after that, all through school, he never once got a kiss or even one date.
At the age of 18 MICK FOLEY had already created the character of DUDE LOVE. The video that's shared here is from when he was pretending to be his DUDE LOVE character. After seeing JIMMY "SUPER FLY" SNOOKA make on of his famous high flyin' leaps at Madison Square Garden, Mick decides he HAS to try it too. He jumps from the top of a friends house onto mattresses on the ground below. Even then Mick was giving it his all.
MANKIND tells of his earlier years in wrestling as CACTUS JACK and his barbed wire matches. This Barbed Wire replaced the usual ring ropes. Many scares cover his body from these brutal and very real matches. I think CACTUS JACK can best be described as "PURE HARDCORE". There is nothing that he won't or probably hasn't already used in a match to help him beat his opponent. Whether it's Barbed wire wrapped around a 2 by 4, Trash Cans
or Steel Chairs. CACTUS JACK is the expert when it comes to a brutal match.
MICK FOLEY sits down with the HARDY BOY'S and tells them the story of DUDE LOVE, another character of FOLEY'S. DUDE LOVE is the "HIPPEST CAT IN THE LAND". The image of DUDE LOVE is that of a HIPPY. With his TIE-DYE shirt, peace sign's and white wrestling boot's he is one CHICK MAGNET. You see, DUDE LOVE gets the girls that MANKIND could never be COOL enough to get. DUDE LOVE makes his appearance in the WWF as Stone Cold's new tag-team partner.
Of course, Stone Cold is not too sure about his new partner. After all, it is known that "THE DUDE" is not too good when it comes to wrestling.
You'll get to see the DUDE LOVE video which features him at his all time hippest. The video is accompanied by the dudes theme song. You just have to see this if you have missed it from earlier video releases or WWF show's. If you can dig what I'm saying.
CACTUS JACK is featured next as Mick talks with the HARDYS again. DUDE LOVE is to face HHH. However, before the match THE DUDE appears on the TITANTRON talking to HHH. Appearing on the TITANTRON with the DUDE is MANKIND and CACTUS JACK? How can that be? Aren't they really one in the same? Of course they are, but with a few tricks you get to see them all talking to each other. The DUDE informs HHH that CACTUS JACK will be steppin' in for him in the match.
It's not part of the video, but I will tell you that CACTUS JACK is pretty famous for his earlier matches in Japan and when he was in the ECW.
He is known as a very RUFF and TUFF, HARDCORE all the way kind of wrestler. You'll see highlights of this match that featured HHH against CACTUS JACK in CACTUS JACKS WWF debut. The match is nothing short of awesomely brutal.
TERRY FUNK, a HARDCORE legend himself and Mick's friend for 13 years, was Mick Foley's idol. FUNK took FOLEY under his wing ,so to speak, and shared some of his HARDCORE knowledge with Foley. FUNK appeared in the WWF as CHAINSAW CHARLIE, CACTUS JACK'S new partner. I well remember the night I was watching the WWF when CHAINSAW CHARLIE cut his way out of the mysterious box that sat on the stage. They start their partnership out in the WWF as friends. As time goes by they become bitter rivals in the ring.
Highlights of this journey are shared and will definitely bring back some great memories.
Next the video will take a look at what I consider to be MANKIND's most famous match. Who can forget the "HELL IN A CELL" match between MANKIND and the UNDERTAKER, not me. Between the highlights of this match you'll
get comments from both wrestlers as well as others who witnessed this awesome match. From MANKIND falling from the top of the cage and landing on the announcers table to him falling through the cage. From MANKIND being slammed into thumb tack's dumped in the ring to these two just plain beating the hell out of each other. This match is without a doubt my favorite of all times.
The THREE FACES OF FOLEY gives you a good look at MICK FOLEY'S wrestling personalities. MANKIND, DUDE LOVE and CACTUS JACK are looked at from the inside and the outside. It's a must have for any wrestling fan. I do recommend that you buy the video rather than rent it. You will want to see this one more than one time. The video is graphic with blood and violence throughout it. Keep that in mind when considering letting children under 16 view it.
HAVE A NICE DAY!!!!
