When I first heard that Disney was making an animated version of "Tarzan", I had serious doubts. The story has been done, redone, and expanded on so many times; I just didn't know if it could withstand another retelling. Nevertheless, I went to see it and was amazed and delighted.
This is the best Disney animated film since "The Lion King." The music is lovely, the animation superb, and the story fast-paced and exciting. The animal characters are great, especially the gorilla family that adopts Tarzan.
There are a couple of sad scenes in this movie and some moments that may be frightening to very young children. Be aware of this if your child is particularly sensitive. Other than that, I highly recommend this movie for children 5 and up.
