I actually found this movie more funny than scary. I also made the mistake of seeing this in the theatre only 5 rows away from the front in one of those giant mega-screen theatres. Lucky we weren't one of the few who ended up leaving part way through. I can't decide if they left because of the camera shaking of they were actually scared. I thought it was rather funny for a supposed scary movie. They funniest part was when he admitted to getting rid of the map. My friend decided to write "die" onto his girlfriend's car window. That was in fact the only freaky part of the night and that only freaked his girlfriend out.
I actually like the fact that it was done in lo-fi, that helped the movie seem a little more believable. The reactions seemed realistic enough and I saw the movie when some people thought that this all actually happened so needless to say, the movie was so-so. I can't say it's awesome cause it really wasn't and it wasn't extremely terrible, (I have seen some real bad movies in my day) so I am going to rate it almost the worst, but not quite. The low production costs and great advertising effort keep this movie from looking like a flop in the cost/benefit analysis for the makers. It cost them a fraction of what most movies cost and they made most of that back within the first week if not all. The rest of the money made was probably put into all those commercials that created the hype.
