This was one of the funniest films I've ever seen! Kirstie Alley is hilarious in her depiction of a beauty-pageant-crazed Minnesota mom who wants nothing less than for her lovely daughter (Denise Richards) to carry on the family tradition of being crowned queen. She is the town's wealthiest woman, and is overbearing and obnoxious. She will stop at nothing to ensure her daughter's success, with hilarious results. There are wonderful performances all around, including Kirsten Dunst as her daughter's main competition, the pretty girl from the wrong side of the tracks (trailer trash)...this is a truly enjoyable "black comedy" that will have you rolling in stitches. This film pokes fun at both small-town life, beauty pageants, social differences, and even anorexia. It is filmed in a documentary style format which makes it even more amusing to watch. I saw this in the theater, and plan to buy the video--it was that entertaining. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys good humor.
