If you love the vulgar and tasteless humor of "Absolutely Fabulous", "South Park", or "There's Something About Mary", you will love this.
Growing up in small town America I can certainly appreciate this film. It brutaly mocks every singel out dated sexist, homophobic, religious, and moral attributes that Middle America holds near and dear to their red neck little hearts.
In documentary style it shows the plight of one teen age girl (Kirsten Dunst) and her desire to win the local beauty pageant, aka, her one way ticket out of trailer park city. The only thing in her way is the town's rich witch (Kirstey Alley) and her daughter. Ms. Alley and her group of "righteous and moral" on the outside and "trash" on the inside, cronies, go on a violent and murderous binge to wipe away any and all competition. Along the way we are introduced to an onslaught of stereotypical trailer park trash inhabitants who are depicted in hilariously "UN" Politically Correct ways.
Weather it is brutally violent physical comedy or dead pan mocking of values (the waltz a girl does with Jesus on the cross to the tune of "I need you baby" springs to mind) this film makes no apologies. Like "South Park" it actually makes a statement on the hypocritcal values of our society at large, such as gun contorll, religious values, hatred, prejudice, and sexism.
Granted, this is not for everyone. If you are easily offended by vulgar language, violent slapstic,...or if your IQ is so low that your sense of "funny" can not handle the concept of "Black Comedy" or anything deeper than the Wayan Brothers...look somewhere else...I hear Beavis and Butt-head are available on video.
But, if you don't mind comedy that pokes fun at everything you hold near and dear, if you don't mind having everyhting that is "sacred" torn to shreds before your eyes, if you don't mind laughing at yourself...this movie is a winner!
