Darkmistress's Full Review: Bellydance Fitness for Beginners - Basic Moves
Plot Details: This opinion reveals no details about the movie's plot.
I found these tapes because they were on display on my route to the bathroom at my store. My history with exercise is spotty. I enjoyed aerobics in college, but I was getting a credit hour for it. I like hiking around in the park, but I’m not just exercising then, am I? However, from the first moment I saw belly dancing live I’ve been fascinated by it. Here was a chance to kill to birds with one stone. I owned the tape within 8 hours.
Basic Moves is just that. Basic hip circles, basic shimmies. Everything is presented very clearly and deliberately. The narrator warns you before you’re about to change moves. They also add small step on small step until you find yourself actually dancing. You’re not only doing something good for you, but you're doing something fun!
The exercise is very low impact. One foot is on the floor at all times. You still will want to wear a sports bra, but this isn’t Jane Fonda telling you to jog while flinging your arms in the air, and don’t forget to breathe! Every thing on Basic Moves is slow and graceful.
Do remember that these girls have been doing this since they could walk. They’re really good. If you start to feel clumsy because they have such elegant hand motions and they’re still smiling while you’re gasping, remember, they’ve performed at the White House. And should you forget that they are professionals, there’s a demonstration at the end of the tape, after the exercise.
I’ve been doing these tapes twice a week barring illness for over a year now. That’s the longest I’ve lasted on a series of tapes. And I don’t see an end in sight. When I get bored with one, I switch to another. This is the most fun you can have with a video exercise tape.
